Beautiful view and comfortable, be aware of instructions
Pro: Easy self check in and directions. Great view all around, well equipped (although the oven doesn’t work; there is an air fryer also), spacious, comfortable beds. Good communication from host close to check in and check out (we received 29 messages with check instructions; see below) 😁. Cala Gonone is very quiet off-season, but we knew that before booking.
Contro: The most important thing to know is that this is a family’s vacation home, which is both good and bad. Good in that it is well equipped and comfortable. Not so good in that the family’s personal possessions are everywhere-closets, shelves, drawers-many labeled ‘personal’, ‘private’, ‘do not use’, etc. This makes it feel like you’re paying to use a stranger’s house, not renting a full apartment. The other thing to note are the extensive instructions. For comparison, the apartment we’re now in picks up bagged waste daily outside the door, asks us to run the dishwasher when we leave, and has the tourist tax and utilities included in the price. At Dream in the Sky, we were asked to take different waste out each night, including hanging some in the trees to avoid wild pigs 😁 (to be fair, recycling is standard throughout Sardinia), take any left over trash out of the apartment on the last day (when the local recycling facility was closed), leave the dishwasher empty, leave cash for the tax, and pay a utility charge via bank transfer after the amount was calculated. These requirements tend to take away from a relaxing holiday, but if you’re aware when you book, you will find the apartment comfortable and enjoyable.
